Reloads should be practiced, tac mag reloads should be practiced more. I see too many people running their weapon systems black (out of ammunition) and then conducting a bolt lock or slide lock reload. During combat operations if you were hitting a bolt lock reload it meant that you were falling behind the power curve. Bolt lock reloads take more time to conduct and in which puts your gun out of the fight for a longer period of time. I am not saying do not practice bolt lock or slide lock reloads but that can be done at home and its really just learning the mechanics. It’s also good to understand what your weapon feels like when it does reach bolt lock or slide lock. All good things but if you’re stuck conducting this in a defensive or offensive operation or situation you are no longer in control, or worse now a liability. Tac mag changes are simply refilling your weapon with ammunition when allowed time to do so. This can be done behind cover, or a lull in a situation, and preferably both.

The issue isn’t that it happens but when it does, you’re more likely to be in a bad situation and I wouldn’t want to be the one who runs up on an immediate threat with 1 or 2 rounds in a gun.
